Chelsea are pushing ahead with plans to sign a new left-back this summer and have decided on an alternative to top target Ben Chilwell.
Chilwell, the Leicester and England player, has been linked with the Blues nearly all season, though they are expected to be held to ransom by the Foxes who have no desire to lose one of their most prized assets.
Chelsea have been chasing Chilwell for months but it appears they are now moving on to alternate targets
And the latest reports say Marc Cucurella, the Getafe left-back, has emerged as Chelsea’s newest target to solve their left-back problem.
Cucurella joined Getafe on a loan basis from Barcelona last summer, and the Madrid-based club signed him outright four months ago.
He made 37 LaLiga appearances and caught the eye, chipping in with one goal and a further five assists throughout a breakthrough campaign.
Cucurella, who has been capped at various youth levels by Spain, is still only 22 and is said to be available for just £27m – less than half the asking price for Chilwell.
According to AS in Spain, Chelsea are already preparing a bid for Cucurella as Frank Lampard continues his summer rebuild with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner already added ahead of next season.
