The leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has been lauded by Omo N’Oba Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin in Edo state. The prominent monarch commended Wike after the governor and some bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) paid him a courtesy visit in his palace to seek blessing for the reelection of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Obaseki, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) after falling out with Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the party, is seeking reelection on the platform of the opposition party.
In a statement by Paulinus Nsirim, Rivers commissioner for information and communication, Oba Ewuare said he has been following the leadership style of the Rivers governor. Wike is the chairman of PDP national campaign council for the Edo state gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on Septemeber 19, 2020. The Edo monarch also commended Wike for his dauntless courage in rescuing Joi Nunieh, former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The opposition party on Saturday, July 25, flagged-off the campaign for the re-election of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy Phillips Shaibu. The election in the state is scheduled for September 19, 2020, and efforts have been concentrated extensively as bigwigs of the party hold the maiden campaign for the Edo governor.
